The Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) was officially registered in 1989 (PPM-003-14-11031989). IGM was established to create a unified professional body to regulate and advance the geology profession in Malaysia. The Official Seal: The seal features a geological hammer flanked by the silhouette maps of Peninsular and East Malaysia, symbolizing the fundamental tools of the trade and the vital role geologists play in the nation’s development.

Membership Recognition

IGM members are recognized by professional designations: Geo., F.I.G.M. (Fellows), M.I.G.M. (Members) These titles denote a registered geologist in Malaysia who is bound by the IGM Rules of Professional Conduct. The Council maintains the right to enforce these codes to ensure the highest professional standards in the industry.
