On 13–14 July 2026, the Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) is pleased to announce the signing of a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia, and Digital Geoscience Global Sdn Bhd (DGeG), marking a significant milestone in strengthening regional collaboration in geoscience education and professional development.

The partnership will focus on the development of Geothermal Field Trips and Professional Training Programmes in Malaysia, leveraging HRDF-supported initiatives to enhance technical competencies and strengthen industry capacity in the geothermal sector.

As one of Asia's leading institutions in geothermal research, ITB brings extensive expertise that will contribute to knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the advancement of sustainable energy development across the region.

During the visit, the delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Indonesia Center of Excellence for Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) to explore future collaboration opportunities in CCUS research, professional training, and industry development.

IGM looks forward to working closely with ITB and DGeG in fostering stronger Malaysia–Indonesia partnerships, promoting innovation, and advancing sustainable solutions in geothermal energy and carbon management for the benefit of both nations.
