IGM International Groundwater Conference (IIGC) 2025 Advances Global Collaboration for Sustainable Water Management

10–12 September 2025 – The IGM International Groundwater Conference (IIGC) 2025 concluded successfully after three days of insightful discussions, technical presentations, and meaningful networking focused on advancing sustainable groundwater management and strengthening international collaboration.

Held under the theme "Groundwater: For a Resilient Malaysia," the conference served as a platform for experts to exchange knowledge on groundwater investigation, smart monitoring technologies, hydrogeology, water-food security, sustainable resource management, and the integration of science into policy and decision-making.

IIGC 2025 welcomed distinguished speakers and delegates from leading international organisations and institutions, including IGRAC, IAH – International Association of Hydrogeologists, Deltares, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Their expertise, alongside the valuable contributions of Malaysian researchers and industry professionals, enriched discussions on groundwater resilience, innovative technologies, and practical solutions for future water challenges.

The conference also acknowledged the generous support of its sponsors—Royal Eijkelkamp, GTR, and Geomag Geological—as well as its event partner, GeoWater, whose contributions played an important role in the success of the event.

As IIGC 2025 came to a close, participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening scientific collaboration, bridging research with policy and practice, and advancing sustainable groundwater management for the benefit of future generations. The Institute of Geology Malaysia looks forward to welcoming the global groundwater community once again at IIGC 2027.
