Courtesy Visit to MIP

6 February 2026;  MIP National Office

The Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) was privileged to undertake a courtesy visit to the Malaysia Institute of Planners (MIP).
This engagement provided a valuable platform to deliberate on avenues for collaboration and to strengthen the professional linkages between geology and planning. Both disciplines are integral to advancing sustainable development, and enhanced cooperation will contribute to more resilient, well-informed, and future-ready outcomes for Malaysia.
IGM looks forward to fostering closer ties with MIP, aligning expertise and perspectives to better serve the nation’s development agenda.

3 Feb 2026; ITB Bandung, Indonesia.

The Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) was honored to pay a courtesy visit to the Geothermal Master Program, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in Indonesia.
Our dialogue focused on potential collaboration in the field of geothermal energy, particularly through the organization of joint workshops and educational programs. Such initiatives will not only strengthen academic and professional exchange but also contribute to advancing regional expertise in sustainable energy development.
IGM looks forward to working closely with ITB to foster knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and innovation in geothermal studies, supporting both nations’ aspirations for a resilient and sustainable energy future.

Sectoral Collaborative Platform Between IGM and ERASMUS+ MARE

Marine, Coastal and Delta Sustainability for Southeast Asia (MARE) is an international joint project between institutions from Malaysia, Germany, Italy, Vietnam, and Estonia, funded from the European Union (EU) funding under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) action. MARE aims to develop sustainable governance and management of coastal, delta and marine (CDM) socio-ecological systems in Malaysia and Vietnam and adjacent marine through ICT-enhanced tertiary education linked to labor markets and water stakeholder circles. In Malaysia, MARE is championed by UTP, and it is conducted through the collaboration with the Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM), under the Coastal and Marine Geology Technical Committee working group and Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM).
